On the Origin, Present, Future, and Discography of GITA RA.

GITA RA is sometimes mistakenly labeled "stoner rock". We are not from the Desert. We are from the High Rise. And instead of a sweaty drummer, we have a once-hi-tech drum machine.

In our roots we are much closer to noise rock (Butthole Surfers, Cows, Swans, Tar), grunge/sludge (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Melvins), and industrial. We also dig krautrock, psych rock, and space rock.

But our music is essentially slow punk with a noise/psych/grunge edge, with a drum machine which puts us dangerously in the Sisters of Mercy territory.

We never cared much about popularity.

We were born in the summer of 2002 in Górczyn - a district of Poznań, Poland. A district once summarized by A.J. as the Polish equivalent of Brooklyn.

We have never officially released any music until July 4, 2022, when "Acid Head", our proper debut album came out privately on bandcamp. This was our first entry into albums and the digital world. 20 years on we were still fresh and willing to release music.

In our archives, we had 18 complete longplays recorded over the years. We have decided to release them gradually into the digital void of the XXIst century.

Now, the archives are empty.

As of now A.J. is not interested in recording new GITA RA music, so for now, the discography of 18 albums available on bandcamp are all we have. It's really much, and not many bands have 18 albums to their credit.

However, in the future, there definitely will be new GITA RA music.

A.J. no longer lives at Górczyn, so the high rise is absent, and also he started working with a real sweaty drummer, and the drum machine has gone really hi-tech. So, the new music (if it appears!) will sound different.

We will keep you posted on this blog, which serves as the only (apart from bandcamp) official GITA RA presence on the WWW.

As of now, nothing is certain, only non-stop music coming from the brain garage is real. Brain Garage being GITA RA's codename for Via Kosmische, A.J.'s home studio. But A.J. is currently working on his solo projects.

So, let the hiatus begin, and there just -might- be news in late 2024.
